Job Description

Ammunition is an international design group providing services in product design, brand strategy and identity, UX design, graphic design, and packaging. The San Francisco based industrial design team is currently seeking talented candidates for a staff Industrial Designer role. We are looking for candidates with a strong talent in developing unique design concepts to help bring the brands of our clients to life. An ideal candidate has practical problem-solving skills and is driven to develop thoughtful design solutions that create meaningful user experiences. Candidates should possess strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate ideas through outstanding visualization skills.

A solid ID background is necessary, a strong graphic aesthetic will be well received, and practical experience with engineering and manufacturing constraints is preferable.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Understand the technological opportunities and constraints attached to each design exercise
• Maintain design intention from concept generation to final implementation
• Collaborate with clients and other team members, to ensure the project vision is executed with attention to brand, business, and user requirements.
• Show a thorough understanding of design principles, a personal commitment to quality, and a continuous attention to detail
• Effectively interface with UX, graphic, and packaging designers to create seamless product solutions
• Ensure innovation by actively researching, sharing, and implementing new trends and materials
• Practice excellent time management, organization, and prioritization skills, as required to handle multiple projects simultaneously within tight timelines and client deadlines
• Demonstrate effective, articulate design communication and decision-making skills
• Coordinate with vendors to help define and spec materials and processes used in fabrication and assembly
• Keep current on standards, tools, and best practices
• Report to Industrial Design Partner

QUALIFICATIONS
• 2+ years of professional full-time experience in an agency or corporate environment
• BS/BA/BFA degree (or equivalent) in industrial design (or equivalent)
• Expert-level proficiency with 2D and 3D design visualization tools
• Highly refined 3D modeling skills – preferably Rhino or Solidworks
• Evidence of prototyping abilities and comfort-level in a shop environment
• Great communication skills (visual, verbal, and written, including presentation formats)
• The ability to think quickly and problem-solve on the spot, with a maturity that maintains a positive team environment
• A portfolio that demonstrates wide-ranging concept exploration abilities, innovative solutions, a clear process, and visually appealing solutions

The salary range for this position is $90,000-$140,000/year depending on experience.
